My friends and colleagues at work gave us an "adoption" shower last week. Even though we still don't know when we will travel to India, we're expecting it will be sometime over the summer break. We were overwhelmed by their generosity and received some wonderful things for the boys as well as gifts for the orphanage and caregivers. Eric was not able to attend, but my mother, "Grammy R." came to school for the event - that's her in the rocking chair - a very special gift! We froze the center of the cake (edible photo of the boys) and will thaw it out when the boys are finally home with us. The map links us together with a rainbow and contains some very touching poems about adoption (I will share these another time) and the basket behind it is full of items for the orphanage. My colleague and I are holding a ribbon "laundry line" full of socks - all the mothers keep telling me socks are a really big deal - I guess soon I'll find out for myself!

Love your site!!! Here's another poem for you. It's adapted from a peom called "Daydreaming" by Tom Fisher. Enjoy! -Melissa M
I stepped into their room today
Knowing that they're not there
This waiting for the phone call
Is more than one can bear
But taking in the moment
I sit down on the floor
And dreamof them here with me
When waiting is no more
Three little giggles fill the air
As I tickle their little feet
I place my hand upon one's heart
To feel it's every beat
A song is sung so very soft
Their eyes begin to close
They're meeting me in dream land
A place where love still grows
My vision now is blurred
The tears stream down my cheeks
I've dreamed of them quite often
Throughout these past few weeks
Suddenly a sound is heard
The phone rings in the hall
Waking up I quickly pray
Please let it be "The Call"
